Rangers have ‘concrete’ interest in signing Ethan Sutherland – sources

Football Insider has been informed by insiders that Rangers are closely monitoring Ethan Sutherland, a phenomenon from St Mirren.

While Sutherland was on loan at Alloa Athletic in Scottish League One during the latter part of this season, he attracted the attention of numerous clubs.

The 17-year-old has been connected to Chelsea and Manchester City after the Premier League teams sent scouts to observe him.

Additionally, Rangers are “strongly” and “concretely” interested in signing the left-sided attacker, who has also played left defense for Alloa while on loan.

Competition exists for Rangers to recruit St. Mirren standout Ethan Sutherland.

Sutherland is expected to get a lot of interest this summer because of his outstanding performance while on loan.

In just 14 games since joining Alloa during the January transfer window, the teenager has contributed six assists and two goals.

The winger, who made just two appearances for the Scottish Premiership team, temporarily left St Mirren in quest of first-team action.

Rangers will be hopeful that Sutherland would want to stay in Scotland at this point in his career, even though the Premier League’s interest in him could jeopardize their chances of signing him.

In addition, the Gers might provide the attacker with a faster path to the first team at Ibrox than some of their English rivals.

John Bennett has never hidden his ambition to sign gifted young players who might eventually be able to generate revenue for the team.

Should the chairman of the Light Blues choose to approve a summer transfer for Sutherland, the team will have to convince him that moving to Glasgow would be the best way to advance his career.

In other news, raids to sign Ibrox star are being planned by Southampton, Sheffield United, and Fulham.
