Pierre Gasly has officially regained his third-place finish at the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix after Alpine’s appeal successfully overturned the penalties that had removed him from the podium.
The French driver originally crossed the line in P3 but was later dropped to seventh after receiving two five-second penalties for alleged pit-lane speeding offences. Gasly and Alpine immediately challenged the decision, arguing that the data used by the stewards did not accurately represent the car’s actual speed.

During the FIA review, Alpine presented new evidence showing that the timing measurements used for the pit-lane calculations were incorrect. After examining the information, the stewards accepted that Gasly had not exceeded the pit-lane speed limit and decided to remove both penalties.
The decision changes the final Monaco classification, with Gasly moving back to the podium and reclaiming the points he lost after the post-race penalty. Isack Hadjar, who had inherited the podium position after Gasly’s demotion, was pushed back to fourth place as a result of penalty
The FIA acknowledged that the situation had affected several drivers, but Gasly’s case was the only one successfully overturned because Alpine submitted a formal Right of Review with new evidence.
The ruling brings an end to a dramatic post-race controversy in Monaco, where Gasly had described losing the podium as a heartbreaking moment after believing he had secured a major result for Alpine.
