F1 Spanish Grand Prix: Final Classification Confirmed After FIA Review and Penalties
The FIA has confirmed the final classification for the 2026 Spanish Grand Prix after reviewing incidents and applying the necessary sporting decisions. Lewis Hamilton’s victory at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya remains unchanged, as the Ferrari driver secured a landmark win after a strategic masterclass
The final top positions were:
🏆 Lewis Hamilton – Ferrari
George Russell – Mercedes
Lando Norris – McLaren
Max Verstappen – Red Bull
Oscar Piastri – McLaren
Fernando Alonso – Aston Martin
Liam Lawson – Racing Bulls
Nico Hülkenberg – Audi
Pierre Gasly – Alpine
Franco Colapinto – Alpine
The biggest change came from championship leader Kimi Antonelli, who failed to finish after a late technical issue forced his Mercedes into retirement. His DNF ended his run of consecutive victories and reduced his advantage in the drivers’ championship.
The FIA also confirmed there were no major post-race disqualifications that changed the podium order. Antonelli’s earlier stewards matter resulted in a reprimand rather than a time penalty or grid drop.
Hamilton’s win created a historic all-British podium, with Russell and Norris joining him in the top three — a result not seen in Formula 1 for decades.
The updated championship picture now sees the title fight become more intense, with Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren separated by strong performances as the season continues.
