Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has confirmed that the team is seeking legal advice as questions continue to surround the FIA’s handling of the Monaco Grand Prix penalty saga.
Nearly a week after the race ended, uncertainty remains over the final result due to growing concerns about pit-lane speeding penalties issued during the event. Five drivers, including Lewis Hamilton, were penalized for exceeding the 60 km/h pit-lane speed limit, with some breaches measured by margins as small as 0.1 km/h.
The penalties immediately sparked debate throughout the paddock, with teams questioning the accuracy of the system used to monitor pit-lane speeds. Those concerns have intensified following confirmation that there was an issue involving the pit-lane speed limiter during the Monaco race.
