Scuderia chief remains under medical observation as Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc spearhead Ferrari’s bid for a breakthrough victory on the streets of Monte Carlo.
Ferrari will tackle one of the most important weekends of its 2026 Formula 1 campaign without team principal Fred Vasseur after the Italian outfit confirmed the Frenchman will miss the Monaco Grand Prix for medical reasons.
The 58-year-old was due to oversee Ferrari’s charge in Monte Carlo, where the team has emerged as one of the favourites for victory, but a health issue has forced him to step away from trackside duties.
In a statement released on Saturday morning, Ferrari confirmed that Vasseur is currently undergoing medical observation at a local facility and will not be present at the circuit.
“Fred Vasseur will not be present at the circuit today,” Ferrari announced.
“Following some medical checks, Fred will remain under observation at a local medical facility.
“No further medical information will be provided. We wish Fred a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back at the track soon.”
The team has not disclosed the nature of the medical issue, choosing instead to respect Vasseur’s privacy while assuring fans and the wider Formula 1 paddock that updates will be limited.
