Red Bull junior driver Isack Hadjar caused the first red flag of the Monaco Grand Prix weekend after crashing during FP1 at the famous Swimming Pool section of the circuit.

The young Frenchman lost control of his RB22 while navigating the fast chicane, with the car suddenly breaking traction and sliding into the barriers. The impact caused significant damage, tearing off the front wing and one of the wheels.

As debris was left scattered across the track, race control immediately suspended the session with a red flag while marshals worked to clear the circuit and repair safety barriers.

Following the accident, Hadjar was quickly checked on by his team over the radio. Although unharmed, he expressed confusion about the cause of the crash, saying the car unexpectedly snapped away from him. He also apologized to the team for the incident.

The crash interrupted valuable practice time and highlighted the challenges of Monaco’s narrow and unforgiving streets, where even a small mistake can result in heavy damage and a halt to the session.
