Lewis Hamilton has opened up on his experience at Scuderia Ferrari following a frustrating first campaign with the Italian outfit, admitting the transition was far more difficult than many expected.
The seven-time Formula One world champion arrived at Ferrari amid enormous excitement, with fans and pundits predicting that the partnership could immediately challenge for victories and championships. Instead, Hamilton’s debut year in red turned into a disappointing struggle, with the British driver unable to secure a single podium finish across all 24 grands prix.
Expectations were sky-high when Hamilton completed his blockbuster move from Mercedes, ending one of the most successful partnerships in F1 history. Ferrari believed the veteran’s experience and winning mentality would help return the team to the top of the sport, while supporters hoped to see Hamilton fighting regularly against rivals from Red Bull and McLaren.
However, the season quickly became defined by inconsistency, technical issues, and difficulties adapting to Ferrari’s car philosophy. Hamilton often appeared uncomfortable behind the wheel, regularly complaining about balance problems, tyre degradation, and a lack of overall pace compared to the leading teams.

Hamilton has looked noticeably more comfortable in the opening stages of the new campaign, showing improved confidence both on and off the track. Speaking about the current atmosphere within Ferrari, the 41-year-old indicated that the team has learned valuable lessons from last season’s struggles.
The Brit praised the commitment of Ferrari’s staff and insisted the difficult moments had helped strengthen relationships inside the garage rather than damage them. Hamilton also highlighted the determination within the team to improve and fight their way back toward the front of the grid.
Despite the disappointment of his first year with the Scuderia, Hamilton remains convinced that success can still be achieved at Ferrari. He acknowledged that adapting to a completely different working environment after so many years at Mercedes was never going to be straightforward, but said the experience has made him more motivated.
Ferrari themselves are also hoping for a stronger campaign after enduring criticism over strategy mistakes and inconsistent performances throughout last season. With Hamilton appearing more settled and the team working to address previous weaknesses, optimism is gradually beginning to return to Maranello.
While there is still work to do before Ferrari can consistently compete for victories again, Hamilton’s latest comments suggest belief inside the camp remains strong.
