Lamborghini delivered an impressive statement ahead of the Nürburgring 24 Hours by securing both front-row positions during a thrilling qualifying session at the Nordschleife.
Marco Mapelli powered the No.130 Lamborghini to second place, completing a dominant showing for the Italian manufacturer and putting the team in a strong position for the start of the iconic endurance race. The result highlighted Lamborghini’s pace around the demanding German circuit, where drivers faced changing grip levels and constant pressure throughout qualifying.
Starting just behind the leading Lamborghinis will be Christopher Haase in the No.16 Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo II. The experienced German driver once again demonstrated his expertise around the Nürburgring, placing Audi firmly in contention for overall victory heading into the 24-hour contest.
Attention has also remained firmly on Max Verstappen, whose participation has added huge excitement to this year’s event. The Dutch star has attracted worldwide interest as he continues to build his endurance racing experience on one of motorsport’s most dangerous and technically demanding tracks.
The starting lineup for the race now promises an intense battle between Lamborghini, Audi, Porsche, BMW and Mercedes-AMG teams, with only small margins separating many of the leading GT3 entries after qualifying. Teams are expected to carefully manage strategy, tyre wear and changing weather conditions across the full day and night of racing.
The Nürburgring 24 Hours officially gets underway at 3pm local time in Germany on Saturday afternoon. Fans in the United Kingdom can watch the race begin at 2pm UK time, while viewers in Nigeria will see the green flag at 3pm WAT. The race will then continue non-stop through the night before reaching the finish at the same local time on Sunday.
With a packed grid, unpredictable conditions and some of the biggest names in endurance racing taking part, anticipation is growing for another dramatic edition of the Nürburgring 24 Hours.
