Kimi Antonelli delivered another outstanding performance at the Miami Grand Prix, securing his third consecutive Formula 1 win and continuing his remarkable rise in the sport. The young Mercedes driver made history by becoming the first driver ever to convert his first three pole positions into victories in consecutive races. Despite signs that Mercedes may have lost some of their earlier pace advantage, Antonelli showed composure and skill, holding off strong competition from McLaren’s Lando Norris to take the win.
Norris pushed hard throughout the race and finished just over three seconds behind in second place, while his teammate Oscar Piastri completed the podium in third. George Russell, Antonelli’s teammate, struggled with pace for much of the race but still managed to finish fourth, over 40 seconds behind the leader. Isack Hadjar crashed independently after hitting the wall, while Liam Lawson collided with Pierre Gasly, flipping Gasly’s car in a shocking accident. All three drivers retired immediately, along with Nico Hulkenberg, whose car failed due to mechanical issues.
During the safety car period that followed, Verstappen opted for an early pit stop, switching to hard tyres in an attempt to run the remainder of the race without stopping again. This strategy briefly brought him back into podium contention, but he was eventually overtaken by several drivers and finished fifth.
Despite forecasts predicting rain, the weather remained dry throughout the race. In the closing stages, Antonelli and Norris pulled clear of the field, engaging in a tense battle for the lead. Antonelli ultimately maintained control and crossed the finish line to secure another impressive victory.
Further down the order, Lewis Hamilton finished seventh, followed by Franco Colapinto in eighth. Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon rounded out the top ten. Several drivers finished a lap or more behind, while four drivers failed to complete the race due to crashes or mechanical failures.
