It’s race day in Miami as Formula 1 gets set for the second Sprint of the 2026 season!

George Russell took victory in the first Sprint of the year for Mercedes at the Chinese Grand Prix. Four more Sprint events are still scheduled this season — at the Canadian, British, Dutch, and Singapore Grands Prix.

The 2026 Miami GP Sprint will run over 19 laps. It starts at 12:00 ET local time on Saturday, May 2nd, which is 17:00 BST in the UK.

The Miami weekend follows the sprint format, meaning just one practice session before competitive action begins. After a five-week break since the Japanese Grand Prix, teams were given an extended 90-minute FP1 on Friday to dial in their cars.

Lando Norris starts today’s Sprint from pole position after a dominant performance in Sprint Qualifying on Friday. The McLaren driver will be looking to convert that into maximum points, with Kimi Antonelli alongside him on the front row for Mercedes.
