Lewis Hamilton finally Admits “nightmare” after… Read more 👇👇

Lewis Hamilton has opened up on the emotional impact of a bruising first season with Ferrari, admitting he plans to completely disconnect from the world over the winter following what he described as an annus horribilis.

Speaking after the final race of the campaign  widely regarded as the worst season of his illustrious Formula One career  the seven-time world champion revealed just how drained he feels after a year that failed to deliver a single grand prix podium.

“I’m really just looking forward to the break  disconnecting, not speaking to anyone,” Hamilton said. “No one’s going to be able to reach me this winter. I won’t even have my phone. I’m looking forward to being completely unplugged from the matrix. I’ve always had it around before, but this time it’s going straight in the bin.”

Those comments sum up the mental and emotional strain of a season that began with enormous promise but quickly unraveled.

A Dream Move That Promised Everything

Hamilton’s blockbuster switch to Ferrari was supposed to be the final, defining chapter of his career. At 40, he joined the sport’s most iconic team in pursuit of an unprecedented eighth world title  one he, and many others, believe was denied to him in the controversial 2021 championship finale.

The timing seemed perfect. Ferrari were coming off a strong 2024 campaign, narrowly missing out on the constructors’ championship at the last race, and appeared to be on an upward trajectory. Formula One’s biggest name linking up with its most famous team felt like a match made in history.

But the fairytale never materialized.

Early Warning Signs and a Harsh Reality Check

Ferrari’s car struggled for competitiveness from the opening races, and Hamilton found it difficult to adapt to its characteristics. Questions also emerged about how the team operated behind the scenes, adding to the challenges.

A sprint-race victory in China briefly lifted spirits and hinted that better days might be ahead. That optimism vanished less than 24 hours later when both Ferrari cars were disqualified from the grand prix.

Hamilton’s exclusion  due to excessive skid-block wear  proved to be an early symptom of a deeper technical problem that would haunt Ferrari all season. The team was forced to run the car extremely low to extract performance, risking skid wear. Raise it, and the pace simply wasn’t there.

A Season Defined by Compromise

Ferrari were caught out by the same issue multiple times. In Spain, the car showed strong early pace before fading badly in the closing stages as the team attempted to manage skid wear by increasing tyre pressures. In Hungary, Charles Leclerc took pole position and looked capable of fighting the McLarens, only for his race to unravel as he slowed significantly in the final stint to protect the car.

It was in Budapest that the strain on Hamilton became impossible to ignore.

He could manage only 12th on the grid, and the contrast with Leclerc’s performance prompted one of the most brutally honest moments of his career. Hamilton described himself as “useless” and even suggested Ferrari might “need to change driver.”

A Difficult Ending to a Difficult Year

The second half of the season followed a similar pattern, punctuated by downbeat post-race comments from Hamilton. While often spoken in the heat of the moment, they reflected a driver worn down by relentless setbacks and unmet expectations.

Now, with the season finally over, Hamilton’s focus has shifted to recovery  mentally as much as physically. His plan to disappear over the winter speaks volumes about how heavy the year has been.

For Ferrari and Hamilton alike, the hope is that the reset will lead to answers  and redemption when Formula One returns.
