In response to the “very special” Celtics comeback for the Legends game, Scott Brown

 Following his selection as captain for the upcoming Celtic Foundation Legends match against Borussia Dortmund, Scott Brown has responded. When the teams play in May to generate money for the club’s philanthropic wing, the manager of Ayr United will once again don the Hoops on the pitch at Paradise. In an interview with the Celtic website, Brown discussed what it will mean to play for Celtic once more as well as the gift that will be made in memory of Scott’s late sister Fiona Brown to the Dundee Cancer Centre at Ninewell in Dundee.   “My family and I will be thrilled to return to Celtic as the Legends side’s captain. It goes without saying that I spent a significant portion of my career at the team and have many amazing experiences there, so it will be extra meaningful to wear the shirt once more.It will be amazing to line up with so many of your old teammates and other legendary Celtics. “I would like to thank the Foundation and all of the fans in advance for their support. I am also incredibly honoured that a donation will be made in Fiona’s honour. It means a lot to my family.”In a record deal, Brown left Hibs in the summer of 2007 to sign with Celtic. Before their Europa League round of 16 matchup with Rangers, Benfica is “riddled with weaknesses.” Journalist Stephen McGowan claims as much, with the first leg scheduled for this Thursday, March 7, in Portugal.Rangers will play the second leg at Ibrox on March 14 and go to the knockout stages after winning their group.For the Scottish Daily Mail, McGowan stated, “Benfica are a team riddled with weaknesses despite a turnover of £167 million – almost exactly double the Rangers figure of £84 million” (page 69, 6 March). The Ibrox team has a history of taking advantage of their European rivals’ unrest, and a 5-0 loss to Porto over the weekend has put head coach Roger Schmidt under a lot of strain. “The Portuguese champions have been lacklustre in Europe, despite bringing in Argentine World Cup winner Angel Di Maria for a second stint and having two exceptional players in 20-year-old Portuguese international central defender Antonio Silva and 19-year-old midfielder Joao Neves.They were defeated by Real Sociedad and Inter Milan in their Champions League group, having lost their opening four games.
