April 7, 2025– A Carnival cruise ship has become the scene of a horrifying tragedy after heavily armed gunmen stormed the vessel in the early hours of the morning, leaving at least 30 passengers dead in a brutal and shocking assault.
The attack took place while the ship was navigating international waters in the Caribbean, during what was meant to be a routine leg of the voyage. According to early reports, the assailants approached the ship using high-speed boats and forcibly boarded under the cover of darkness.
Once on board, chaos and terror erupted as the gunmen opened fire, targeting passengers and crew with automatic weapons. Witnesses described scenes of panic as people ran for cover, hid in cabins, and barricaded themselves in dining areas and hallways.
“We heard shots—dozens of them. People were screaming, diving for the floor. It was like something out of a nightmare,” said one survivor.
Carnival Cruise Line confirmed the incident and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life. “We are heartbroken by the events that unfolded today. Our deepest condolences go out to the families affected. We are fully cooperating with all authorities,” the company said in a statement.
Security forces responded swiftly after receiving the distress signal, but the attackers had already fled the scene by the time they arrived. The ship has since been secured and is being escorted to the nearest port for further investigation and medical assistance.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear
