Shocking Changes to Carnival’s VIFP Program Cause Uproar Among Loyal Cruisers.
Carnival Cruise Line has announced major changes to its Very Important Fun Person (VIFP) loyalty program, sparking widespread outrage among its most dedicated passengers. The updates, which include revised benefits and stricter tier requirements, have left many longtime cruisers frustrated and voicing their disappointment across social media platforms.
Under the new structure, some of the most cherished perks—such as priority boarding, complimentary drinks, and exclusive event access—have been either reduced or eliminated for certain tiers. Additionally, the points required to reach higher VIFP levels have increased, making it significantly harder for frequent cruisers to attain elite status.
“We’ve been loyal to Carnival for years, and now it feels like they’re punishing us,” said one Platinum-level cruiser in an online forum. “The perks were what made the experience special, and now they’re taking them away.”
Carnival has defended the changes, stating that they are intended to streamline the program and ensure a better experience for all passengers. A spokesperson for the cruise line said, “We understand that change can be difficult, but these adjustments are designed to provide a more balanced and rewarding loyalty program.”
Despite the company’s explanation, many longtime cruisers feel that the modifications favor newer passengers rather than rewarding those who have been sailing with Carnival for years. Some have even threatened to take their business to competing cruise lines, such as Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line, which offer competitive loyalty programs.
As the backlash continues to grow, it remains to be seen whether Carnival will adjust its approach or stand firm on its decision. For now, loyal VIFP members are left navigating an uncertain future with the cruise line they once c
