As the January transfer window approaches, Celtic fans are bracing for a potentially tense month with growing speculation surrounding rising star Nicolas Kuhn.

The 24-year-old winger has drawn attention from Premier League clubs like Brentford, with a rumored £25m valuation, thanks to his incredible form—scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists in just 17 matches this season. Having joined Celtic in January for around £3m, Kuhn is shaping up to be a fantastic investment, though the club will hope to keep him for the foreseeable future.

### Celtic’s Recruitment Success

Manager Brendan Rodgers and Celtic’s recruitment team deserve credit for recent successes in the transfer market, despite a rocky start to his second tenure. Early signings like Gustaf Lagerbielke and Hyeok-kyu Kwon struggled, while players like Marco Tilio left quickly. Yet, January acquisitions like Kuhn, along with summer signings such as Kasper Schmeichel, have proven transformative.

Schmeichel, for instance, has delivered 11 clean sheets in 18 appearances, while young loanee Alex Valle has impressed with three assists. Meanwhile, recent additions in midfield, including Arne Engels, Paulo Bernardo, and Luke McCowan, have begun to fill the void left by Matt O’Riley’s departure.

### Trusty’s Rapid Rise

Among Rodgers’ summer signings, Auston Trusty has emerged as a standout performer. The £6m center-back initially faced doubts after some shaky displays, including a heavy defeat to Borussia Dortmund. However, Trusty has since solidified his position, particularly with a commanding performance against Atalanta in the Europa League and an impressive showing in the 3-1 win over RB Leipzig.

Trusty is now considered one of the best defensive center-backs outside Europe’s top five leagues, according to CIES Football Observatory. This places him on par with Sporting CP’s Ousmane Diomande, a £68m-rated talent pursued by clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham. While a similar valuation for Trusty is unrealistic, his £6m fee now seems like a bargain based on his current form.

Celtic fans may hope to hold on to stars like Kuhn and Trusty for the long term, but their performances underline the club’s growing reputation for identifying and nurturing top talent.
