‘It hasn’t worked’ – Rangers hero on why Clement’s side are ‘so far behind’ Celtic despite £16m spend

Rangers Update

Former Rangers player Alan Hutton has shared concerns about the club’s performance under Philippe Clement. Despite spending £16 million, Hutton believes Clement hasn’t been able to recruit the players he needed. Hutton criticized the club’s player trading strategy, stating that contracts were mismanaged, leading to a loss of experienced players.

Hutton noted that Rangers are currently nine points behind Aberdeen and Celtic in the league and highlighted the inconsistency in their performances. He emphasized the need to prioritize winning the domestic cups and maintaining their strong European form.

Speaking to *BestBettingSites*, Hutton said Rangers lack stability at both player and board levels, which is impacting progress. He stressed that the league title seems out of reach this season, but domestic trophies are a must for a club of Rangers’ stature.

Despite their challenges, Hutton praised Aberdeen’s exceptional form under Jimmy Thelin and acknowledged the difficulty of competing against a strong Celtic side. He concluded that Rangers need to translate their European performances into consistent league results to salvage their season.
