Derek McInnes answers Celtic red card question and why Kilmarnock didn’t deserve more

Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes reflected on his team’s 2-0 loss to Celtic, highlighting their strong performance despite the defeat. Kilmarnock created numerous opportunities, tallying 18 shots and consistently pressing Celtic’s defense. However, McInnes acknowledged that his side struggled to convert their chances, contrasting with Celtic’s clinical finishes from Callum McGregor and Nicolas Kuhn. He praised his players’ effort and execution but admitted they needed better finishing.

Addressing Reo Hatate’s late challenge on Liam Donnelly, which resulted in a yellow card, McInnes noted that while it was a high tackle, he didn’t feel it warranted a red card due to the lack of significant force. VAR reviewed the incident, but McInnes suggested that while the tackle looked bad on replay, it wasn’t overly forceful.
