Reo Hatate shared a joyful moment with Brendan Rodgers after his impressive Champions League performance. It’s clear why he’s thrilled; the Japanese midfielder has returned to the form I expected from him a year ago. He’s now taking a central role, dominating in Europe’s top competition. Although many Celtic players earned praise this week, Hatate’s performance stands out to me for multiple reasons. Rodgers has outstanding players across the team, and I can’t recall a Celtic side controlling a match at that level against such high-caliber opponents in Europe.
While they recently dominated Slovan Bratislava, RB Leipzig was a different challenge. Leipzig is currently second in the Bundesliga and was also outplayed midweek. Nicolas Kuhn may be getting most of the attention for his goals, but replacing Callum McGregor someday will be tough. Thankfully, that’s a concern for the distant future, as McGregor was brilliant against Leipzig.
