Celtic ‘annoying all the right people’ as doom mongers clamped over unfounded Champions League claims

Celtic are winning over critics and embracing the revamped Champions League format, which has faced backlash from some quarters. Bayern Munich’s Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is defending UEFA’s new setup, encouraging those against it to hold off on their criticisms. Although Bayern has struggled in the new league format, fans and players, including Celtic supporters, are enjoying the refreshed competition.

Notably, prominent teams like Real Madrid and PSG are now fighting to stay in the top eight, while clubs like Celtic, Brugge, and Sporting are pushing for a place in the knockout rounds. The new format, where teams play each other only once, is a significant change, leading some to liken it to the NFL or NBA for its TV-focused structure. Rummenigge argues that the updated system is more exciting and challenging, creating a more intense competition that fans will eventually appreciate.
