Celtic are reportedly close to finalizing a new contract with key defender Alistair Johnston, with talks advancing significantly since negotiations began in September. The proposed deal is expected to extend Johnston’s tenure at Parkhead until the summer of 2027, including a salary increase as a recognition of his contributions.
Since joining Celtic from CF Montréal in 2022, Johnston has made 78 appearances, scoring six goals and providing 13 assists. He’s also been a consistent presence in the Scottish Premiership this season, starting nine of Celtic’s ten games. His impressive performances and steady growth have made him a vital part of Celtic’s squad as they compete for the league title against Aberdeen and keep Rangers at bay.
Johnston’s representative is currently in Scotland to finalize the terms, and Celtic are optimistic about securing his long-term future with the club.
