Celtic star’s representatives in Glasgow to thrash out new contract extension

Celtic are close to securing a new long-term deal for Canadian right-back Alistair Johnston. The 26-year-old has been an essential part of Brendan Rodgers’ lineup, impressing fans and management alike since joining from CF Montreal for £3 million in January 2023. Although Johnston is already under contract until 2027, the club has offered him an upgraded contract with a substantial salary increase to keep him at Parkhead for even longer. Negotiations are reportedly in the final stages, with Johnston’s representatives currently in Glasgow to finalize the deal, which will reinforce his status as one of Celtic’s core assets.

Meanwhile, discussions with Greg Taylor, Celtic’s left-back, remain ongoing. Taylor, a pivotal player since his arrival from Kilmarnock in 2019, is approaching the final six months of his contract. With Taylor’s influence on the pitch and his leadership within the squad, Celtic fans are hopeful that the club will reach an agreement soon to secure his future as well.
