With impressive wins over Slovan Bratislava and RB Leipzig and a resilient away draw against Atalanta, Brendan Rodgers’ side has shown marked improvement on the European stage, looking far more competitive.
Central to this success is Nicolas Kuhn, who has emerged as a key figure for Celtic this season. After a slower start last year, the winger, who joined from Rapid Vienna for £3m, has exploded in form, with nine goals and ten assists this season. His standout performance came in the Leipzig match, where he scored a sensational equalizer and then put Celtic ahead just before halftime. Another key player under Rodgers is Alistair Johnston, who joined from CF Montreal in December 2022. Signed for just £3.5m, Johnston has become invaluable, even captaining the team in Callum McGregor’s absence. He has already matched last season’s eight goal contributions, with his improved forward runs under Rodgers’ guidance enhancing Celtic’s attack, especially in tandem with Kuhn. Johnston’s form has seen him widely regarded as one of the league’s best right-backs, further cementing his value to Celtic amid interest from other clubs and the prospect of a new contract.
