‘He’s instrumental’: Liverpool told the midfielder they need to keep fit to win the PL title under Arne Slot….

Arne Slot’s strong start as Liverpool manager continued with a 2-1 win over Brighton at Anfield. The Premier League match saw Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah score for Liverpool after Ferdi Kadioglu initially put Brighton ahead.

Slot demanded more intensity from his team after they went 1-0 down, with Virgil van Dijk spearheading the comeback. The Anfield crowd played a significant role in energizing the team, creating a lively atmosphere that helped propel Liverpool to victory.

Adding to Liverpool’s positive momentum, title rivals Man City and Arsenal both suffered losses, giving Slot’s side a further boost. As a result, Liverpool now leads the Premier League by two points, having won eight of their ten games so far.

However, Tony Cascarino suggests that City remains the title favorites, although he believes Liverpool’s attacking depth—with Salah, Darwin Nunez, Gakpo, Diogo Jota, and Luis Diaz—will keep them competitive. “I think City are still the team to beat,” Cascarino said on talkSPORT. “But Liverpool’s forward line is capable of scoring against anyone, which gives them a real shot.”

Cascarino emphasized the importance of Curtis Jones staying fit, as he sees him as central to Liverpool’s midfield evolution. While Liverpool’s defense has been solid, Cascarino remains slightly unconvinced that the midfield is perfect yet.

Jones has forced his way into the rotation under Slot this season, despite not initially being part of the preferred midfield lineup of Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, and Dominik Szoboszlai. His recent performances have been impressive on both ends of the pitch, highlighted by his goal and assist against Chelsea and another assist against Brighton. His impact off the bench, especially alongside Diaz, was pivotal against Brighton, and he’s now likely to start against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday.
