Brendan Rodgers has provided insight into the situation of Odin Thiago Holm. The young Norwegian midfielder, who joined Celtic in the summer of 2023, was a part of the starting lineup early last season but lost his place to Daniel Kelly after the new year.
Holm appeared as a substitute in three matches during August, but with the addition of Luke McCowan, competition for midfield positions intensified, leaving Holm struggling to secure a place in the matchday squad and excluded from the 25-man roster for Champions League matches.
Despite speculation following Holm’s absence from the recent team photo and a friendly match against Sligo Rovers, Rodgers clarified his status during a press conference. He confirmed that aside from the injured Holm, the squad is in good shape, saying, “Everyone is fit and healthy. Odin has been out for a little while with his calves, but other than that, I’m happy with the squad’s fitness.”
With Callum McGregor, Adam Idah, and Nicolas Kuhn all available, the team’s depth is significantly enhanced for the upcoming match against Aberdeen. Given the current dynamics, it seems unlikely Holm will regain his place, leading to speculation about a possible loan or permanent transfer in January.
