Celtic are reportedly asking for around €10 million to transfer left-back Alexandro Bernabei, who is currently on loan at Internacional in Brazil.
Since joining Internacional in March, Bernabei has become a standout player, scoring three goals and assisting three times in 18 matches. Internacional, on an 11-game unbeaten streak in Serie A Betano, would like to keep Bernabei beyond this season, but Celtic’s high transfer fee poses a challenge.
Brazilian outlet *Portal do Colorado* reports that Celtic informed Internacional that they would need to pay close to €10 million for a permanent deal. However, Internacional’s president, Alessandro Barcellos, admitted the club lacks the funds and may instead try to extend Bernabei’s loan. The 24-year-old, contracted to Celtic until 2027, struggled to claim the starting left-back role from Greg Taylor, with Alex Valle also now in contention on loan from Barcelona.
Bernabei, preferring to stay in South America, hopes to secure a permanent spot at Internacional, which is on track for Copa Libertadores qualification next season, and is expected to appeal to Celtic’s management for a stay in Brazil.
