Celtic have reportedly set an £8 million transfer fee for Alexandro Bernabei as the Argentine defender continues to impress on his loan spell. Bernabei joined Internacional on loan in March, seeking more consistent first-team opportunities, and he’s made a mark with three goals and three assists in eighteen appearances.
According to Glasgow World, Celtic aims to secure a solid profit on the mulleted left-back. Bernabei was initially signed by Ange Postecoglou to compete with Greg Taylor, but he struggled for game time as Taylor established himself as a mainstay in the lineup. Over one and a half seasons, Bernabei made just 28 appearances, scoring once and assisting three times, with most of his appearances coming off the bench. However, he did show glimpses of his potential, leaving fans hopeful about his talent.
Bernabei’s off-field issues have been noted, which could make it challenging for Celtic to secure the desired £8 million fee. However, with a possible call-up to the Argentine national team on the horizon, Celtic might benefit from the increased visibility if they choose to sell him.
As for Celtic’s left-back position, the club brought in Alex Valle from Barcelona over the summer, signaling no intention to recall Bernabei. With both Taylor and Valle’s contracts expiring this summer, addressing the left-back role will be a priority for Celtic in the upcoming transfer window.
