Brighton faces injury concerns ahead of their Carabao Cup clash against Liverpool.
The Seagulls are anxiously awaiting updates on two key players before their back-to-back matches with Liverpool. The Reds, coming off their third away game in a week, will travel to the south coast for Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup tie, as they aim to defend their title. Just three days later, Brighton will visit Anfield for a Premier League showdown.
Captain Lewis Dunk is doubtful for these fixtures after he pulled up during the warm-up before facing Wolves, leading to Igor Julio taking his place. Head coach Fabian Huerzeler commented on Dunk’s status via the *Brighton Argus*, saying, “I think he will have a scan and we will see. He has a small issue in his muscle.”
Additionally, Yankuba Minteh has missed two consecutive games. The winger, who joined from Newcastle United for a reported £30 million, has one goal and one assist for Brighton this season. Last season, he played under Liverpool’s head coach Arne Slot at Feyenoord. Huerzeler mentioned, “Minteh is hopefully close. We have to go day by day.”
Brighton will also be without former Liverpool vice-captain James Milner (thigh), as well as Joao Pedro (ankle), Solly March (knee), Matt O’Riley (ankle), Adam Webster (thigh), and Georginio Rutter (cup-tied).
