A groin strain sustained during training has sidelined Victor Kristiansen from his first Premier League match of the season.
The Danish player had previously started in all eight of City’s league games before the recent 3-1 loss to Nottingham Forest. However, an injury earlier in the week prevented him from playing at the King Power Stadium, and manager Steve Cooper could not provide a definite timeframe for his return.
With Kristiansen unavailable, Ricardo Pereira made his first Premier League appearance of the season, assuming an inverted midfielder role, similar to his position under Enzo Maresca last season.
Kristiansen’s absence adds to City’s injury list, joining fellow countryman Jannik Vestergaard (ankle), Hamza Choudhury (shoulder), Patson Daka (ankle), and Jakub Stolarczyk (foot). Given the uncertainty around Kristiansen’s recovery, he is expected to miss the Carabao Cup match against Manchester United on Wednesday, where Luke Thomas may cover left-back. City’s next Premier League game will be against Ipswich next weekend.
