Report:More New York Jets Players Face Potential Time on Injured Reserve

The New York Jets are dealing with significant injury challenges heading into Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots, with three players already ruled out and potentially heading to injured reserve (IR). Offensive guard Alijah Vera-Tucker, safety Ashtyn Davis, and defensive tackle Leki Fotu will miss the game, and all three could be placed on IR, according to interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich. This adds to a growing list of Jets players on IR, including offensive linemen Xavier Newman and Wes Schweitzer, as well as safety Chuck Clark and others.

With Vera-Tucker out, Jake Hanson, who stepped in after both Vera-Tucker and Newman were injured in last week’s game, is likely to start at right guard. This could strain the Jets’ offensive line, especially with limited depth after placing multiple linemen on IR. The team may need to elevate players from the practice squad to fill gaps, particularly as they look to activate edge rusher Haason Reddick, who ended his holdout this week and is set to make his season debut.

In the secondary, Davis’s absence is also significant. With Clark still on IR, the Jets are thin at safety, which could impact their defensive rotation against the Patriots. Defensive tackle Leki Fotu, who returned recently from a hamstring injury, re-injured himself against Pittsburgh, further depleting the Jets’ defensive line depth.

The Jets will be monitoring the health of their roster closely as the season progresses, as they navigate these injuries to key players on both sides of the ball.
