The New York Jets officially activated edge rusher Haason Reddick from the exempt list on Saturday, making him available for Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots. To create space for Reddick on the roster, they released defensive end Takk McKinley. Reddick signed a restructured one-year deal, reportedly worth $8.7 million for the remaining season. He can earn up to $5 million more through performance-based incentives, including play time, sacks, Pro Bowl selection, and a potential Jets Super Bowl appearance.
In addition, the Jets elevated offensive lineman Alec Lindstrom and safety Jarius Monroe from the practice squad. Lindstrom provides depth for the offensive line, particularly with injuries to both starting right guard Alijah Vera-Tucker (ankle) and backup Xavier Newman, who is now on injured reserve with a neck injury. Jake Hanson is expected to start at right guard in their absence.
Monroe steps up to support the depleted safety group, with starters Chuck Clark (IR), Tony Adams, and Ashtyn Davis (concussion) all out. Jets interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich noted Reddick had a promising week of practice, though he was noncommittal on the extent of Reddick’s role on Sunday.
Reddick, known for his ability to generate pressure, joins the Jets’ pass rush at a critical time, as the team looks to end a four-game losing streak and revitalize its playoff aspirations.
