Following the Champions League match in Bergamo, Bernardo spoke about how Celtic’s team spirit and adaptability allowed them to bounce back from the Dortmund defeat, showing their progress on the European stage.

Reflecting on the loss to Dortmund, Bernardo saw it as a key learning experience that underscored the challenges of competing in the Champions League.

“We had a lot to learn from the game against Dortmund,” he told *STV*. “I think we did that and came back with a great response. Our togetherness on the pitch was evident, and we need to keep this unity in every game.

“It was important for us to face the reality of the Champions League in that match against Dortmund.”

Bernardo emphasized that treating each match with a “final” mindset will be crucial as Celtic continues their Champions League journey.

“We needed to respond. The game against Dortmund was very tough for us. But we have to compete every week, including midweek, and be prepared for these challenges. I think we did a great job here.

“We need to maintain this focus and approach each game like it’s a final. The mentality we showed against Atalanta is what we need moving forward.

“Getting a point away is always positive. Now, our attention shifts to the next match.”

Celtic’s upcoming Champions League fixture is against RB Leipzig, who are heading to Glasgow in search of their first points of the group stage. The German side has lost their last three matches, falling to Liverpool, Juventus, and Atletico Madrid, and will be without star player Xavi Simons, who is sidelined for the rest of 2024.

This offers Celtic a promising opportunity to add to their points tally, as they aim for ten points in the group phase—a target that could secure their place in the knockout rounds.
