LATEST NEWS: Extra Time – Community Games project supporting children during October Break….

Last week, Celtic FC Foundation welcomed a record 75 children to Celtic Park for its October Community Games project, which is part of the Scottish FA’s Extra Time program.

The week-long initiative, held at the stadium and nearby facilities, provided local primary school children with valuable support during the school holidays.

Each day, participants enjoyed three nutritious meals—breakfast, lunch, and a takeaway dinner—and took part in a range of fun and educational activities, including football sessions, music, and games.

The program also included personal development workshops aimed at helping the children improve communication skills, boost self-esteem, and enhance teamwork.

Since it began in 2012, the Foundation’s Community Games projects have supported thousands of primary school children during the Easter, Summer, and October holidays, providing healthy meals and enriching experiences to vulnerable local children.

The project’s expansion was made possible through funding from the Scottish FA.

The program aims to show how structured activities for children and engagement with local support services can positively impact families, especially those with lower incomes.

Tony Hamilton, Chief Executive of Celtic FC Foundation, said: “A big thanks to the Scottish FA and Scottish Government for their support. It has made a huge difference to so many young people this year.

“When schools close, many families face additional challenges, so it’s crucial for us to help ease that burden for as many as possible.

“We’re also running similar initiatives in Ireland and London, which are only possible due to the support we receive from funders and supporters worldwide—a heartfelt thanks to everyone involved.”
