Feyenoord’s director of football, Denis te Kloese, has disclosed that the club benefits financially from loan deals with teams like Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle United. Speaking to *De Telegraaf*, and as reported by *Soccer News*, te Kloese highlighted the arrangement regarding players like Yankuba Minteh and Ibrahim Osman.
Minteh, who spent last season on loan at Feyenoord from Newcastle, became a key player before returning to his parent club. He was later sold to Brighton for €35 million in July. To fill the gap left by Minteh, Feyenoord turned to Brighton, securing a season-long loan for Osman. The 19-year-old had just signed with Brighton this summer for €19.5 million from Nordsjaelland.
Te Kloese explained that these loans are mutually beneficial, as Feyenoord offers players a platform in the Champions League, helping them develop in Europe. He emphasized that although Feyenoord cannot afford Premier League-level salaries or transfer fees, they gain quality players while also benefiting financially if the players succeed and their market value rises.
“The relationship is about helping each other, and goodwill plays a significant role,” te Kloese said. “We also benefit financially and sportingly, as clubs like Brighton know from experience that a player’s market value can grow significantly with us if they perform well.”
