Philippe Clement, Rangers’ manager, responded firmly to fans’ criticism of the team’s style of play after their recent defeat to Kilmarnock, with many labeling it “boring.” In a press conference, Stevie Clifford, a prominent fan voice, relayed the frustrations of supporters regarding the team’s overreliance on long balls and sideways passes, accusing Rangers of lacking attacking flair.
Clement countered by highlighting the inconsistency in the criticism, asking if the issue was too many long balls or excessive sideways passing, ultimately agreeing that the Kilmarnock game lacked creativity. However, he defended his team by noting that they have generated more chances in other matches, emphasizing that some of the newer players, like Nedim Bajrami, are still adjusting. Clement explained that it takes time for players to build chemistry and create more consistent attacking moments.
Despite Clement’s defense, he acknowledged that the team’s offensive output has not been as fluid or entertaining as it could be, especially with key players still integrating into the squad. He urged patience as the team works toward improving its cohesion and attacking dynamics.
The manager is aware of the fans’ impatience and will need to deliver results soon, especially with Rangers aiming to bounce back in their upcoming Europa League clash against FCSB at Ibrox.
