Celtic winger Luis Palma has struggled for game time under Brendan Rodgers, amassing just 106 minutes across four appearances this season. The 24-year-old Honduras international last featured for the club in their 5-2 victory over Falkirk in the Scottish League Cup back in September, and has since been sidelined from the squad.
Reports from Scotland suggest that Palma may seek a move away from Celtic in the January transfer window, a possibility echoed by his father earlier this month. Honduran newspaper *El Heraldo* has picked up on these claims and offered insight into the player’s current situation. According to them, Honduras manager Reinaldo Rueda opted not to call up Palma for the latest international fixtures, with the intention of allowing the player to focus on regaining form at Celtic. Rueda reportedly described Palma’s situation in Glasgow as “high risk.”
During the international break, Palma made an effort to impress by scoring a hat-trick in a friendly match for Celtic. However, this performance did not translate into a return to the first-team lineup, as Rodgers continued to overlook him in the recent 2-2 draw against Aberdeen.
*El Heraldo* highlights that despite Palma’s efforts, he remains on the fringes of the squad, with his situation showing little signs of improvement. If he continues to find himself out of favour in the coming weeks, a January departure from Celtic Park seems increasingly likely.
