Brendan Rodgers has acknowledged that Celtic’s heavy defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League impacted his morale but emphasized that it has not swayed him from his attacking philosophy. Despite the setback, Rodgers is determined to stay true to his principles as Celtic prepare to face Atalanta, the reigning Europa League champions, in Italy. He made it clear that he won’t be resorting to defensive tactics, often referred to as “parking the bus.”
Rodgers said that while the 5-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava felt amazing, the subsequent heavy loss to Dortmund was tough, likening it to a blow to his spirit. Nevertheless, he stressed that his coaching philosophy has always been aggressive and will remain so throughout his career, regardless of the opponent.
Although Celtic face a difficult challenge and have to consider the strength of their opponents, Rodgers is adamant that they won’t abandon their offensive approach. The Hoops will also have to contend with the absence of key defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, who has been ruled out for the Atalanta clash, adding to their challenges ahead of the match.
