Latest update: Celtic superstar Declared Best Right-Back in Scotland After CIES Research

According to the CIES Football Observatory, which analyzed data from Wyscout, Celtic’s Alistair Johnston has been ranked as the third-best attacking right-back among players outside of Europe’s top five leagues.

The Canadian international has enjoyed an excellent start to the season, playing a key role for Celtic as both a defensive anchor and an offensive force. Johnston has started in every match for the Hoops so far, helping the defense allow just one goal, which was a penalty. Offensively, he has already recorded two goals and two assists in his first seven appearances.

This comes after a strong season the previous year, during which he registered one league goal and five assists. Johnston, who is almost at his 50th cap for Canada, is an important member of Celtic’s team both on and off the field because of his talent and strong character. Even though it might seem like a strange honor to be rated as the third-best right-back outside of the top five leagues, it’s still an impressive accomplishment. Given his remarkable form, it would be interesting to see how Johnston stacks up against his peers in Europe’s premier leagues.

Due to an injury, he was unable to be called up to the Canadian team during the break, but this weekend, when Aberdeen visits Glasgow, he should be included in Celtic’s starting lineup.
