All the latest updates on the teams ahead of Brighton’s Premier League match against Newcastle this Saturday.

Newcastle’s medical staff will be busy evaluating the fitness of key players this week before their clash with Brighton at St James’ Park.

The Magpies will face a tough challenge against sixth-placed Brighton, as Eddie Howe’s side looks to break a three-match winless streak in the Premier League.

Fabian Hurzeler’s Seagulls have made a strong start to the season and will come into the match in high spirits after a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Tottenham just before the international break.

Newcastle may find their task more difficult as they expect to be without experienced full-back Kieran Trippier, who sustained a hamstring injury during the 0-0 draw with Everton last time out.

Howe and his medical team will continue to evaluate the injury throughout the week, but Saturday’s 3pm kick-off may come too soon for the 34-year-old, who has played five times in the Premier League this season.

On a positive note, Howe could welcome back strikers Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak. Wilson has been dealing with a lower back injury, while Isak is recovering from a foot injury suffered during their 2-1 victory over Wolves. Isak has missed the last two Premier League matches and the Carabao Cup game against AFC Wimbledon.

He was also left out of Sweden’s squad for their Nations League matches against Azerbaijan and Estonia. “[We’re] hoping he’ll be back for the game after the international break, same with Callum Wilson,” Howe stated prior to the Everton match.

Defenders Sven Botman (knee) and Jamaal Lascelles (knee) remain unavailable, and midfielder Lewis Miley (ankle) is also a doubt.
