The Best Celtic XI of the Season So Far

Goalkeeper:
Kasper Schmeichel takes the spot between the posts, given that Viljami Sinisalo has yet to make a competitive appearance for the club. The experienced Denmark international has been solid, recording six clean sheets since joining in the summer.

Defense:
On the right, Alistair Johnston has made the position his own with dynamic performances, contributing two goals and three assists across ten games. At the heart of the defense, Liam Scales and Cameron Carter-Vickers form a sturdy partnership, despite Carter-Vickers’ occasional fitness issues. Celtic’s record of just one goal conceded in the Scottish Premiership is a testament to their defensive strength. Greg Taylor fills the left-back role, continuing to excel in both attacking support and as an inverted option during build-up play.

Midfield:
Midfield selections get trickier. Captain Callum McGregor maintains his key role, anchoring the midfield with his leadership and four impressive goals from range. Arne Engels has also earned his place, adapting smoothly since his move from Augsburg. For the final midfield spot, Paulo Bernardo narrowly edges out Reo Hatate. The Portugal Under-21 international has consistently performed when called upon, despite limited starts.

Attack:
Nicolas Kuhn and Daizen Maeda are obvious choices for the wide positions, boasting a combined 21 goal contributions this season. Both have been instrumental in Celtic’s strong start under Brendan Rodgers. Up front, Kyogo Furuhashi gets the nod over Adam Idah, despite both players having similar goal tallies. Furuhashi’s overall contribution to Celtic’s play and his status as the first-choice striker give him the edge.

Celtic’s Best XI:
Schmeichel; Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Taylor; McGregor, Engels, Bernardo; Kuhn, Maeda, Furuhashi.
