The France U21 squad has suffered another blow amidst its growing injury crisis, as the French Football Federation confirmed that Georginio Rutter, 22, has had to withdraw from the team. The Brighton & Hove Albion forward, who joined the Premier League side from Leeds United over the summer, sustained an injury that rules him out of the *Espoirs*’ upcoming EURO 2025 qualifiers against Cyprus and Austria.

This latest setback adds to a difficult international break for new head coach Gérald Baticle, who has already seen Mathys Tel, Rayan Cherki, Désiré Doué, and Nathan Zézé pull out of the squad due to injuries. Baticle, previously an assistant to Thierry Henry during Henry’s time in charge of the *Espoirs*, took over as head coach after Henry stepped down in August following the Olympic final defeat to Spain. Henry recommended Baticle for the role, leading to his promotion.
