Celtic left-back Alexandro Bernabei could be on his way out of the club, with Brazilian side Internacional reportedly interested in making his loan move permanent. Bernabei has struggled to make a significant impact since his £3.75 million move to Celtic in 2022 and is no longer part of Brendan Rodgers’ plans, being deemed surplus to requirements.
Internacional’s president, Alessandro Barcellos, confirmed that talks with Bernabei’s agent have already begun, expressing optimism about keeping the player at the club. Barcellos emphasized how Bernabei has “earned his space” and become a key player for Internacional, where he has made 16 appearances, scoring two goals and providing two assists. The Scottish champions will reportedly look to recoup a significant portion of the transfer fee they initially paid for him.
Former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou praised Bernabei’s potential in 2022, but with Greg Taylor’s strong performances, Bernabei struggled to secure a regular spot in the team. His future now looks more likely to be in Brazil, where he appears to have settled better .
