Latest Update:Todd Downing Assigned Key Role in Fixing New York Jets’ Offensive Struggles with

The New York Jets’ offense, once hopeful after a strong 24-3 victory against New England on September 19, has experienced significant struggles in recent weeks. Losses to Denver and Minnesota have revealed several issues: Aaron Rodgers, now 40, has been dealing with injuries, the offensive line has struggled, and the running game has underperformed, particularly with Breece Hall averaging only 3 yards per carry—well below his previous average of 4.5 yards.

In response to these challenges, head coach Robert Saleh was let go following a 2-3 start, and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett was reassigned. Jeff Ulbrich, the interim coach, has now given Todd Downing the task of reviving the offense. Downing, who remains the team’s passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach, will lead the offensive changes, starting with their upcoming game against Buffalo.

Downing, a long-time NFL assistant, previously worked as an offensive coordinator for the Raiders and the Titans, earning praise for his tough and relentless offensive units. He aims to improve the Jets’ offense by making adjustments week by week, focusing on exploiting defensive weaknesses through strategic motions and formations. Despite Rodgers’ recent struggles, including a rough game against Minnesota with three interceptions, Downing remains confident in Rodgers’ ability to diagnose defenses and lead the offense back to success.

The Jets hope these changes can reinvigorate the team and bring consistency to their performance, starting with more effective utilization of the run game and improved offensive line play.
