Report:‘That’s What’s Happened’ – Brendan Rodgers Makes ‘Forcing It’ Verdict On Celtic Star

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has advised winger Luis Palma to avoid trying too hard to make an impact on the pitch as he works to establish himself at the club. Despite showing promise, Palma has found limited playing time this season, with just 37 minutes in the Scottish Premiership and no appearances yet in the Champions League, having been an unused substitute against Slovan Bratislava and Borussia Dortmund.

However, Palma boosted his chances of more regular involvement by scoring a hat-trick in a 3-2 friendly win over Sligo Rovers earlier this week. Rodgers, while praising Palma’s ability, believes that the winger sometimes forces his game, driven by a strong desire to score or create chances. Rodgers is keen for Palma to focus on a more natural, composed approach to maximize his potential with Celtic.

Brendan Rodgers emphasized that Luis Palma should focus on playing naturally rather than forcing his game, particularly when other players in the team are finding success. He explained, “It’s just about not forcing it. I think sometimes the thing with wingers is, when other players are in the team and scoring and creating goals, you feel you really want to come in and force it a little bit.”

Rodgers acknowledged that this tendency has affected Palma, but he remains confident in the winger’s abilities. “He’s a very good technician, and when he plays for the team and works hard and presses well, then he can be a really good player,” he said.

Looking ahead, Celtic will face Aberdeen in a crucial top-of-the-table Scottish Premiership clash after the international break. It remains to be seen whether Palma will be given a chance to shine in that match, especially after his impressive hat-trick performance against Sligo Rovers.
