Breaking News:Wales boss Craig Bellamy shares honest reason behind Rangers ace Tom Lawrence snub

Craig Bellamy has explained that Tom Lawrence’s exclusion from the Wales squad for upcoming matches against Iceland and Montenegro is down to “numbers” rather than any other factors. Despite Lawrence’s recent good form for Rangers, where he has been a key player, Bellamy opted to select other players in his position, such as Brennan Johnson, Harry Wilson, and Nathan Broadhead.

Lawrence, 30, has not played for Wales since March 2021 and was hoping for a return to the international fold after earning 23 caps since 2015. He recently revealed that he had discussions with Bellamy about his potential inclusion, but ultimately Bellamy chose not to call him up, emphasizing that it was purely a footballing decision, not influenced by off-field matters like the 2019 car crash involving Lawrence and former Derby County teammate Richard Keogh.

Bellamy has made it clear that his decision was based on the limited number of spots available in the squad and the players he prioritized for those positions. Lawrence will need to maintain his strong performances for Rangers if he hopes to re-enter the Wales squad in the future, particularly with another international break next month, where Wales will face Turkiye and Iceland again.
