Celtic forward Kyogo Furuhashi shared an emotional tribute to his former teammate, Barcelona legend Andrés Iniesta, following Iniesta’s retirement at the age of 40. The two players spent time together at Japanese club Vissel Kobe between 2018 and 2021, where they won the Emperor’s Cup and the Japanese Super Cup in 2019 and 2020.
Reflecting on their time together, Kyogo expressed his gratitude and admiration for Iniesta in a heartfelt message on social media. He wrote, “It seemed short but it was long, intense and special time. Being able to play together, sharing the time together. My precious days that I experienced so many things and improved myself I never forget these and will never do. I really appreciate it. Thank you.”
Iniesta, a World Cup and European Championship winner with Spain, was a key figure for Barcelona, forming one of the greatest midfields in football history alongside Xavi Hernandez and Sergio Busquets. Kyogo’s tribute highlights the profound impact Iniesta had on him during their time at Vissel Kobe.
