The Toronto Maple Leafs have made key roster moves by signing veteran forwards Max Pacioretty and Steven Lorentz to one-year contracts. Pacioretty, who attended training camp on a professional tryout, signed a 35+ contract with a cap hit of $873,770, which could reach $1.5 million with performance bonuses. The deal includes incentives based on games played, which could help Pacioretty rebound after Achilles tendon injuries have affected his recent seasons. Pacioretty, 35, brings experience as a six-time 30-goal scorer, although he will likely play a third-line role in Toronto.
Steven Lorentz, 28, also signed a one-year deal worth $775,000. Lorentz, a natural center, brings valuable experience, having played a key role for the Florida Panthers during their Stanley Cup-winning playoff run last year. Despite his limited offensive production, Lorentz’s contributions include effective faceoff performance and solid depth play, making him a reliable addition to the Maple Leafs’ fourth line.
In addition to signing these veterans, the Maple Leafs also extended young defenseman Cade Webber for two years, keeping him under contract through the 2026-27 season. Webber’s new deal includes a two-way contract in the 2025-26 season before converting to a one-way deal in 2026-27, with an $825,000 cap hit.
