BREAKING NEWS: Rangers boss hints two in-form players are keeping excellent Balogun from getting

Rangers manager Philippe Clement praised the defensive partnership between Robin Pröpper and John Souttar, highlighting their recent form as a key factor in Rangers’ defensive success. The duo has played all of Rangers’ last four matches across all competitions, helping the team secure four consecutive clean sheets. Clement emphasized the importance of maintaining their partnership to build a strong understanding between the two center-backs, which he believes is crucial for the team’s ongoing defensive solidity.

While John Souttar has been with Rangers since January 2022, joining from Heart of Midlothian, Pröpper arrived more recently, transferring from Twente just two months ago. Their solid performances have limited game time for Nigerian international Leon Balogun, who last featured in the Old Firm derby on September 1. Although Balogun has been on the bench for recent games, Clement praised his professionalism and efforts during training.

Clement also mentioned other options in defense, such as Nana Kasanwirjo and Dujon Sterling, but stressed the value of maintaining consistency in the backline to allow players to develop strong partnerships. With half of the defense being new, Clement is focused on finding the right balance for his team.

Both Balogun and Cyriel Dessers were seen training with the Rangers squad, making them potential candidates for the upcoming Europa League clash against Lyon.
