Celtic FC Women have made history by becoming the first Scottish team to qualify for the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage after a 3-0 aggregate victory over Vorskla Poltava. This achievement not only elevates their standing in European football but also provides a significant financial boost.
Celtic have already secured around £484,000 in earnings: £67,000 for their Round 1 win, £83,000 for the Round 2 triumph, and £334,000 for reaching the group stage. As they progress, there are additional financial incentives for each result in the group stage, with £42,000 for a win and £14,000 for a draw, and further bonuses for advancing to the later rounds of the competition.
Celtic are now set to face Europe’s elite in the group stage, where they could potentially draw teams like Barcelona, Bayern Munich, or Chelsea. This marks a major step forward for women’s football in Scotland and the growing project at Celtic FC.
