EXCLUSIVE REPORT: Pundit Brands Luis Palma Criticism “Extremely harsh”

Scottish football pundit Marvin Bartley has come to the defense of Celtic winger Luis Palma, arguing that the criticism surrounding the Honduran’s recent performance against Falkirk is excessive. Palma, who started in Celtic’s 5-2 victory in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final, was largely ineffective during the match and was substituted in the 60th minute when his side was trailing 2-1. His replacement, Yang Hyun-jun, made a noticeable impact after coming on.

While pundits like Michael Stewart have suggested that Palma’s Celtic career might be over, Bartley believes that writing him off after one poor performance is unjust. He pointed out the difficulty of coming into a game and immediately making a difference, especially given the high expectations placed on Celtic players when facing lower-league teams like Falkirk.

Bartley acknowledged that while Palma and others who struggled need to meet higher standards, dismissing Palma entirely based on this match is premature. Manager Brendan Rodgers also took responsibility for making too many changes to the lineup, which affected the team’s overall performance during the first hour.

Despite the criticism, it’s clear Palma still has time to prove himself, although he currently sits behind other wingers like Nicolas Kuhn, Daizen Maeda, and James Forrest in the pecking order .
