BREAKING NEWS: Mark Robins frustrated by ‘horrendous’ situation as Coventry City boss prepares for Leeds trip

Coventry City manager Mark Robins has shared his sympathy for summer signing Raphael Borges Rodrigues, who is still waiting to make his debut for the club due to a thigh strain. The 21-year-old winger, who joined from Australian side Macarthur FC, sustained the injury in a pre-season friendly against Port Vale and has been in recovery since then.

Robins acknowledged the frustration for Raphael, stating, “It must be horrendous for him… he came here looking to hit the ground running.” The manager emphasized the need for caution in Raphael’s recovery, noting that pushing him too hard could lead to a setback. He added that while progress is being made, it’s slow, and the medical staff are carefully managing the player’s rehabilitation.

Robins is optimistic about Raphael’s potential impact once fully fit, stating, “He’s a good player with a lot of really good attributes,” and that his return will feel like “welcoming a new player” to the squad. The club is hoping Raphael will soon be able to compete with Tatsuhiro Sakamoto for the right-wing position, but it remains a waiting game for his return to full fitness.
